Children at the preschool level are just becoming acquainted with the world and everything in it.

Our team of specialized Early Childhood educators are experienced in leveraging these new experiences and
turning them into learning moments.

Joy of learning

Through age-appropriate approaches to curriculum, the children experience the "joy of learning" and the sense of wonder that contribute to the formation of life-long learners, especially while focusing on building their self-confidence, encouraging them to explore the world around them, and training them on how
to regulate their behavior and emotions, express themselves, and get along
with others.

Students at EWC are exposed to a wide variety of learning opportunities that are designed to stimulate their curiosity and promote their development through play. Sensory materials, building blocks, playing games, engaging in imaginative play, and participating in hands-on projects and experiments are some of the essential learning tools in our Early Years program.

We want each child to leave our Kindergarten with:

● the ability to respect and work cooperatively with others.
● the ability to listen to and follow directions.
● the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully.
● developed gross and fine motor skills.
● a positive self-image.
● the LOVE of learning.

Children, Our Purpose
& Our Future

About Early Years

  • Observe a child engaged in learning and exploration to witness how inherently delightful the process is. Consider the laughter and smiles of an infant realizing that your face, hidden behind your hands during a game of peek-a-boo, will reappear and hasn't truly vanished! Picture a child mesmerized by an insect in the garden, or intently watching cookies rise through an oven window, or proudly admiring their block-built structure with hands on their hips.

In the early years, learning experiences originate from the child's interests; we believe children are naturally drawn to meaningful subjects as they strive to understand the world around them.

At Eastwood College’s Early Years program, we provide diverse, stimulating, and, most importantly, joy-inspiring learning environments that foster a love for learning and embrace challenges. Welcome to the Early Years experience.

  • In the early years, learning experiences are centered around the child's interests. Our curriculum blends the theme-based approach with the Reggio Emilia approach, resulting in a structure that is adaptable and tailored to the individual needs and interests of each student.

By combining these two approaches, we design our curriculum around central themes that create a framework for organizing and integrating content across various subjects. This fusion is highly engaging for students, as it allows them to see connections between different concepts, explore topics that interest them, and emphasizes their natural curiosity and creativity. Furthermore, it promotes critical thinking and problem-solving, encourages self-expression through diverse mediums, and celebrates each student's individuality.

  • Learning through play is an educational approach that emphasizes the importance of play in fostering learning and development in children. Optimal learning occurs when children are actively engaged in enjoyable, meaningful, and interest-driven activities. Play-based learning can be incorporated in the classroom in various ways, such as imaginative play, games, hands-on activities, and experiments.

Through play, children develop vital cognitive, social, emotional, and physical competencies, including problem-solving, creativity, communication, teamwork, and physical coordination. Ultimately, learning through play offers an enjoyable and captivating means for children to acquire essential skills while nurturing their innate curiosity and passion for learning.

  • Our team of dedicated Early Childhood educators specializes in guiding preschool children as they explore and learn about the world around them. With a theme-based approach, we seamlessly integrate academic subjects like Mathematics, Languages, Science, and Social Studies into a comprehensive learning experience. Language learning emphasizes reading, writing, and oral and visual expression, while our Mathematics program helps children connect mathematical concepts to real-life situations. Our Science curriculum lays the foundation for exploring the world using the scientific method, and Social Studies start with examining the self, emotions, positive relationships, health and wellbeing, and rules and routines.

Our curriculum is designed to foster growth in all aspects of a child's development, including intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. Physical activity and artistic expression are also crucial elements of our early childhood curriculum. Children develop basic motor skills in a secure environment through games and music, while group activities highlight the significance of teamwork and social skills. Our program builds confidence and encourages independent learning among young children.

Learning experiences in the early years begin with the interests of the child; we trust that children are interested in things that truly matter as they work to discover and learn about the world around them.

MONTHLY FIELD TRIPS

Educational field trips contribute significantly to our Early Years program at Eastwood College by extending the learning environment beyond the classroom walls. During the course of the school year, your child will have the opportunity to participate in various off-campus field trips. Organizing outings for the children to explore the world and reinforce covered themes further more is majorly essential to our curriculum and approaches.

READING

Early years children receive a library book to read at home on a weekly basis. We encourage reading for them and discussing the content of the book. Such activity will initiate the love of reading within a child, and it would surely be a positive enhancement for the parent-child quality time. The book has to be returned to school to be offered another book to enjoy.

CHAPEL TIME

School days are launched with morning Chapel time for all Kindergarten classes. It consists of stories that provide our little ones with the proper moral lessons, along with hymns and songs. It is also a chance for them to celebrate the different special occasions from around the world. Well Done announcements are part of Chapel time as well.

Our Policies

  • Eastwood College emphasizes the importance of healthy eating habits and routines. We believe that nutritious food should be the choice for every child, ensuring they remain energetic and healthy throughout the year. We strongly encourage parents to provide their children with wholesome sandwiches and snacks. Items such as Pepsi/Coke, chocolate, chips, gum, and lollipops are strictly prohibited at school. It's worth noting that a refrigerator is available to keep children's meals fresh, and there is also a facility for heating meals when needed.

  • At Eastwood College, a full-time registered nurse is available on-site to attend to students' medical needs. Our nurse's office is designed to ensure privacy and comfort for any student requiring medical attention. All visits are documented, and parents are informed daily through our Online Agenda service.

To maintain high hygiene standards, routine health screenings are conducted on a weekly basis. Children's safety is a top priority at Eastwood College, and we regularly inspect facilities, games, resources, and accessible areas to ensure a secure environment for our students.

  • Celebrating birthdays in our Kindergarten department is a delightful and unforgettable experience for both family and friends. The festively adorned classrooms set the stage for joyous moments, while the excitement of the birthday child, donning a special crown, spreads throughout the room. These memorable celebrations create lasting memories that are treasured by all who attend.
